if your going to be a warlock buy max lev for the good spells and get the best want so during your cast time you can fire your wand

Warlocks are probably the BEST class in PVP, if you know how to play them. Mages are MUCH more useful in PVE. Now heres the thing, they each specialize in one aspect, BUT, mages blow at PVP, and warlocks are only DECENT at PVE.

So, the warlock is better overall, but if you like PVE more the mage would be best. But warlock overall, just get him to level 80, and see how he is.

    I have a lvl 37 mage…

    and a lvl 24 Warlock…

I chose lock, because my friends know and could help me with it, threw my experience I see that warlocks are better at PvP, (lvl 20-40)

My mage is higher lvl, I stared off with it but decided it was not the best to go with….

One of the most reasons, is if you have the right stuff for a warlock… He can become a tank. As well as his Minions. Mages need a tank, to lvl at the rate that a ‘well used’ Warlock can. Warlocks and mages are good for party’s, or being in raids; they also have very good spells that work for everything.

Mages are needed more in the role of Non-combat, and more of a merchant… Portals, Herbs, Inscription, ect. They get their mana/hp threw sitting and eat/drinking

Warlocks are needed more in the role of combat, they get their mana/hp threw draining it during combat.
and DPS spells that can do a lot more damage than one Fire bolt, or Frost bolt. http://www.usfine.com

Warlocks can summon Doomguard. A properly used Doomguard can take out entire camps of enemies at a time before perishing. And it ends up attacking the minion, not the caster.

Mages can do devastating AoE attacks, doing the same thing, but ending up with the highest amount of threat, and they have low hp. Therefor die fast.

Overall Warlocks are more OP for my opinion… if this helps, a fully buffed lvl 80 warlock, and minion could KO a fully buffed lvl 80 mage.
Warlock VS Mage = Warlock win. (Test done, Warlock was Demo, Mage was Frost)

Why not play both? You’re almost there on the Warlock. I prefer mages … but then I have an 80 hunter and 80 shammy – so I can’t really answer. Level up your warlock and you’ll become a master with both.
